Als je al niet gegrepen was door het vintage fever, dan komt het vanzelf wel.

WAT IS VINTAGE?

We zeggen het heel gemakkelijk, maar wat is vintage precies? Volgens wikipedia is vintagekleding, kleding die nieuw leven wordt ingeblazen.

Wij zijn het daar niet helemaal mee eens. Want vintage is altijd alive & kicking geweest. Mensen blijven zich aangetrokken tot kleding uit vroegere periodes. Als je praat over vintage, dan gaat het om kleding die grofweg gemaakt is vanaf 1920 tot eind jaren tachtig.

Bij Bleached Onion vind je vooral vintage kleding uit de jaren tachtig. Waarom? Waarschijnlijk deels omdat wij zelf die periode heel bewust hebben meegemaakt en daar wat nostalgische gevoelens aan hebben overgehouden. Voor een ander deel omdat de stijl uit die periode ons het meest aanspreekt.

VINTAGE IS UNIEK, JE VOELT DE KWALITEIT

Wat vintage kleding vooral uniek maakt, is dat het eh… nogal uniek IS. Het gaat nooit om een massa product, maar altijd om kleine aantallen, soms zelfs enkelstuks. Dat betekent meteen dat je erop kunt rekenen dat een vintage kledingstuk met aandacht en liefde gemaakt is.

Vintage moet je voelen. Letterlijk. Wie een kledingstuk vastpakt of past, ziet en voelt de kwaliteit. Het design, het materiaal, de afwerking… De uitspraak “Zo maken ze dat tegenwoordig niet meer” is helemaal van toepassing.
